ish Out the VOTE!
ish is seeking submissions of art to inspire our community to vote. Please see the above options to learn more about this program.
Curatorial Statement
Hillel taught, "Al tifros min hatzibur, Do not separate yourself from the community" (Pirke Avot 2:5). Inspired by Jewish values and calls for tzedek, Justice, ish seeks art which motivates Jewish Cincinnatians and our allies to vote in the upcoming election. Art which challenges the community’s perception of the election, focuses on the importance of voting, and stimulates discussion or an emotional response is strongly encouraged. Young artists, people of color, LGBTQIA artists, experienced, and established artists are especially encouraged to submit in the spirit of continuing our mission of bringing artists & communities together. During these distant and difficult times, building an intentional & intergenerational community remains key to our success. ish is nonpartisan and pluralistic. Art should not name or visually represent a specific candidate, politician, party, or ballot issue.
