Do you know a teen who identifies as Queer (LGBTQ+), BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, Person of Color), or is from an Interfaith family? Read on to learn about this incredible sponsored Israel trip opportunity!
Teens ages 15-19 will embark on a summer trip like no other. This is ‘Not Your Typical Israel Trip’. Teens will be surrounded by their Israeli peers while they celebrate Pride at the Tel Aviv Pride Parade and learn about the growing Ethiopian Jewish community and how young artists and entrepreneurs are making a difference. They’ll also go behind the “typical scenes” and meet real people living across the Muslim-Jewish-Christian and Palestinian-Israeli divides while learning how we can work together to build a more inclusive, just, and supportive shared society.
“This is an incredible opportunity for teens who want to experience a “behind the scenes view” of Israel’s colorful culture,” says ish Executive & Artistic Director, Marie Krulewitch-Browne. This trip is more about meeting people than visiting “standard” historic landmarks. (If you’re thinking of a Masada climb, this trip may not be for your teen…). These three weeks will be spent across multiple cities between the Mediterranean Sea and the Syrian border. Teens will make friends with Israeli teens and other young adults who also identify as Queer, BIPOC, and in interfaith groups living in Netanya, Tel Aviv, Haifa, Ashkelon, and Jerusalem. The trip will depart the first week of June and return the last week of June, 2023. Exact itinerary to be confirmed.
Eligible families in the Greater Cincinnati Area may qualify for Cincy Journeys local grants and Root One national grants. Additional subsidies will be provided by ish via support from The Jewish Foundation and The Jim Joseph Foundation. Additional fees may apply. All interested teens and/or guardians (for teens under 18) should complete the following application as soon as possible. Don’t delay! Applications close on April 15th, 2023. Limited spots available. Complete your registration by April 1st and receive a $50 Visa gift card! Refer a teen who registers by April 1st, and receive a second $50 Visa gift card ($100 in total)!
