Ish welcomes Rabbi David Burstein in a new role as Creative Director, working with current program leaders and creating new Jew-ish experiences for curious seekers with a focus on family education and intergenerational programming.
Rabbi David comes to Ish with 20+ years of communal experience and has been connected to Ish from the very beginning – as a founding board member and volunteer. A visionary creative and innovator in the field of Jewish education, he’s been recognized locally and nationally as a leader in both educational and spiritual venues. He played a crucial role in the creation and development of new programming, including The Cincinnati Teen Initiative and Reflect Cincinnati. A graduate of HUC-JIR, he served three congregations, and is the former director of Kulanu-The Cincinnati Reform Jewish High School. He’s also taught classes in the Jewish and Non-Jewish communities on a variety of topics, including Adolescent Masculinity to Kabbalah and Jewish meditation. A William Bridges trainer in transition work, David has coached and counseled people and organizations and also developed and led over 30 retreats.
In his free time he has coached high school and youth lacrosse, taught Krav Maga, and travelled on peace missions to the Middle East and Northern Ireland.
Most of all he loves his time with family–-his wife Elizabeth and three children, Emma, Coby and Nadia.

Marie Krulewitch-BrowneA Cincinnati transplant with local roots, Marie was born and raised in Indianapolis by interfaith parents (Italian Catholic and Ashkenazi/Sephardi Jewish) with her younger brother and sister. Extroverted and extracurricularly-inclined, Marie participated in various Jewish programs while balancing other school & community-based clubs, performing arts, and sports activities. Marie attended Ohio Wesleyan University graduating with a dual degree BFA in Painting, BA in Psychology, and a minor in Music. Marie met her husband while at OWU and followed him to Cincinnati after graduation... and has been in love with Cincinnati ever since.
Professionally, Marie brings a proven track record of success in the arts and community engagement. She began her career at ArtWorks, building an expertise in cross-departmental organizational management, marketing & development, administration and programming. With her feet firmly planted in the Cincinnati arts and Jewish communities, Marie was looking for opportunities to bring these two worlds together. After connecting with local artists, mentors, and long-time friend and then ArtWorks colleague, Rachel Rothstein, who was also deeply interested in creating a platform for local Jewish artists to sell their wares (Rachel took a concept for a Jewish marketplace called Ish through ArtWorks' creative business development course!), ideas were exchanged, concepts were married, and ish Festival was born in 2016. Marie has lent expertise and creativity across a variety of Cincinnati-based organizations and programs including serving on the founding cohort of BLINK, and has held leadership positions in other community organizations including the Jewish Federation of Cincinnati, Congregation Beth Adam, MUSE Cincinnati’s Women’s Choir, and the University of Cincinnati’s Alpha Tau Chapter of Kappa Alpha Theta. Marie is Mom to two sons, a cats, and two snakes. |
Adam HaydenAdam Hayden is all about bringing people together with a desire to facilitate friendships. Born to a large Catholic family in Evansville, IN, Adam quickly noticed his favorite part of any religious ceremony was when people were able to talk and mingle. Adam was also enthralled by Hip-Hop music and culture at a young age and developed an affinity for community particularly grounded in social justice and music. After graduating from the University of Southern Indiana with a degree in communications with an emphasis in broadcast journalism, he continued to explore music and community. He independently booked four music tours that took him all across the United States, meeting all kinds of interesting and beautiful people. In the midst of these tours he left his first stable job and a life in the suburbs to live in an intentional community in a crumbling Cincinnati neighborhood. Around the same time, he met the love of his life and got married. Together, they have 2 kids and no pets. Although they tried a dog a few times, it just wasn't for them. Maybe they will explore a pet cat someday. When they are not enjoying their home in College Hill, they love to travel and be with family.
Through all of Adam's travels and relationships he has come to realize two closely held beliefs: It is good to love others and it is good to be loved. |
